During the Bush/Kerry election season in 2004, Jon Stewart went on CNN’s Crossfire (which was cancelled in 2005) to tell host Tucker Carlson that he is doing a disservice to the American people and the media with his “partisan hackery,” playing into exactly what corporations and politicians want from the media.
Carlson tells Stewart that he doesn’t ask hard-hitting enough questions and Stewart quickly reminds him that The Daily Show is on Comedy Central and that it follows a show about puppets making prank phone calls.
Jon Stewart is one of journalism’s few saviors. I love watching him attack major media outlets to show the public that they’re not getting what they need from the “news.”
