I’ve been a fan on Tim Ferriss’s blog for a while, Experiments in Lifestyle Design. The idea of lifestyle design is fascinating to me: test what works in your life and further that, eliminate the aspects of your life that are wasted time.
What is “wasted time?” Well that’s relative to everyone. For me my largest amount wasted time was spent playing video games. That time can be spent doing more productive things that will help me in other aspects of my life. I’ve cut my time playing video games and replaced it with reading. Not only do I learn a lot more, my reading comprehension and retainment skills increase, as does the speed at which I read. Being a student, a writer and a journalist, efficient reading is extremely important to me and my future.
I don’t miss playing video games. That’s not to say that I never touch my Xbox 360 or N64 anymore, I’ve just severely cut my time down from hours to minutes per week.
I’m a fan of tinkering and experimenting and Ferriss’s blog is a great place to start if you want to make small changes to improve your life. I invite you to give it a read and a try.
