Facebook Advertising
I’m the Social Media Outreach Editor for the University of Colorado’s newspaper, the CU Independent and I’m thinking about advertising through Facebook. My job is to manage the social media sites since we are an online-only newspaper (or news source, since there’s no paper).
Facebook is a website that college students use at almost all hours of the day so advertising our paper on Facebook seems like the way to go. Here’s the way I see it:
Pros:
- Extremely targeted advertising
- Great way to reach our demographic since they use Facebook 24/7
Cons
- Do people click the ads?
- Can be expensive
Do you ever intentionally click the ads that run on the right side of Facebook?

I did. Led me to artists such as Leerone and Jay Brannan’s fan page.

Never. Ever. I clicked “Like” to Logmein’s ad because I love their site/software but didn’t click on the ad.

No; they look cheap and not something a respectable company/org will use

rillawafers answered:
the click rates on those are horribly low and the bounce rate is high bc its always an accidental click. fan page, promote via like groups

I’ve never once clicked an ad on fb, and usually ignore them completely - a “fan” page may be a more effective way to go
