Vers is a company that makes cases for iPods and iPhones out of hardwoods and bamboo. The cases are hand crafted, durable and include a scratch-resistant lining. You can grab one of these nifty cases for your iPhone at their website for $40.
Vers is an environmentally friendly company and chooses to use bamboo because
- Bamboo grows faster then any other species, sometimes 3’ per day, reaching a harvestable height in only 3 months, compared to 40 - 60 years for a typical hard-wood species. It can also produce 35% more oxygen per acre than a stand of trees.
- Since mature Bamboo is harvested by hand, there is far less energy ‘invested’ (and less CO2 produced) in processing Bamboo than wood or just about any other production material.
This is an idea and a case company I could definitely get behind.
