Season 9 of Scrubs starts on December 1st…and I’m pissed

Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence has been quoted as saying “Legacy schmegacy,” in regards to what season 9 could do to how fans look back on the series. Come on Bill, you’ve got to know when you’ve made the exit. You’ve got to know when to call it quits.

Season 8 ended perfectly. It was open ended with the whole message that JD’s life could be anything he wanted it to be. Lawrence didn’t end the season in a predictable way with a rushed wedding or some overly happy/catastrophic event. It just ended. It had a good message and call me sentimental if you want, but I loved how the last person JD said goodnight to on his last day was Bill Lawrence dressed up as Random Janitor #4.

Now they want to do something starring Turk and Dr. Cox, with JD and Elliot only being in the first six episodes to bridge the gap between good-Scrubs and bad-Scrubs.

It’s hard saying goodbye. Brett Favre knows that.

Scrubs is destined to be one of those shows in infinite reruns. It will join the ranks with Seinfeld, The Cosby Show, South Park, Friends, etc. Nick at Night will syndicate it, Comedy Central will continue to syndicate it, MTV has called, the CW will probably jump on at some point too, just as long as Bill Lawrence doesn’t turn season 9 and possible future seasons into crap, where the value of the series as a whole turns from gold into rubbish.
