John McCain: Genius or Political Suicide?

There are hundreds, if not thousands of articles flying around right now about whether Sarah Palin was a good pick for VP. Some like the decision, some loathe the decision but one thing remains for sure: this VP pick could either scream, “John McCain is a genius!” or “John McCain is an idiot!” I’d argue the latter.

First of all, she calls herself a “Maverick.” I think I’ve heard that before somewhere. Oh yeah, that’s McCain. He’s owned that nickname for years. Just because Palin get on his ticket does not automatically make her a maverick. She needs an original nickname like, “The Cold-Weather Soccer Mom,” or “The Dog Sled VP.”

McCain had only met her once before choosing her as the VP candidate. Doesn’t that say something?

Let’s see, Hillary ran a tough campaign for the Democratic nominee, Obama beat her, she did that whole historic thing where she motioned to get him unanimously elected as the nominee, Obama gives one hell of a DNC speech, it looks like the women are out of the presidential race for now but then BAM! Sarah Palin! The vaginas are baaaaaaack.

I’m pretty sure that this is the thought process that happened in McCain’s head, “Hillary was a women and lots of people wanted to vote for her. Mainly women. If I pick an old, white VP, only about five women will get excited, but if I pick a woman then EVERY woman will get excited. Hmmmmm woman, woman, woman, woman, woman, woman, wombat, woman, woman…..this popsicle is delicious. Popsicles are cold, like Alaska. Who runs Alaska? I should talk to them. It’s a woman? Sarah who? Palin? *picks up the phone* ring ring ring, Sarah Palin? John McCain. How would you like to be HEAD VAGINA OF THE FUCKING WORLD? Ahem, I mean my vice presidential candidate. You will? We should meet once and then talk again. To make it look good, you know? OK. Call me tomorrow.”

Women aren’t stupid. They’re not just going to vote for Palin because she is, in fact, a woman. She’s pro-life which most Hillary supporters are not and believe it or not, the woman’s ability to choose what happens to the living being inside of them is a big issue among women. Yes, Republicans, it’s true.

This could have been a good move by McCain if it was thought out more but all it is, is a gimmick to wrap up Hillary voters and take them away from Obama. I’m not telling you anything you don’t know already. This just would have been smarter if McCain had picked a different woman, a more prominent female Republican who knew a little lot more.

John McCain is a maverick, I’ll give him that, especially for having the balls to pull this stunt. Too bad it won’t work out for him, people are starting to see right through every thread of his choice. Go back to Alaska, Sarah Palin. It’s too warm for you down here.
