From G’s To Gents

MTV has really gone downhill in terms of programming. One show that I’ve watched religiously though was From G’s To Gents. At first the show seemed ridiculous, a bunch of kids from the hood trying to learn how to be preps but as the show progressed it was obvious that these guys were actually taking steps to better themselves and their lives.

G’s To Gents was produced by Jamie Foxx who clearly had good intentions when starting a show like this. As the weeks progressed and the guys grew out of their old habits, it really became apparent that Foxx’s show aimed not only to improve the lives of the few men on the show, it also aimed to help improve the lives of those in need that may have been watching.

We’re not all blessed with great parents that teach us the right things to do. Some of us have to learn the hard way. Foxx realized this and started what could be MTV’s only show that really aims to do good and eventually improve lives. I really respect Foxx for a show like From G’s To Gents and MTV for taking the risk of airing something other than The Real World, Tila Tequila, and The Hills. Granted, MTV completely undid all the good that From G’s To Gents did by green-lighting Paris Hilton’s My New BFF but still, G’s To Gents was an incredible show with good intentions and I hope that it did improve the lives of those that it touched.
