The right man for the job

If the past few days have taught me one thing, it’s that Senator Obama is the right man for the job. It has nothing to do with policies or experience, white or black, old or young. It has to do with the fact that Barack Obama pays attention to the world outside of politics. Obama plays fantasy football and pays attention of Saturday Night Live.

A politician being connected to the real world speaks more to me than his policies. And while the policies and standpoints are still important, it shows that Obama is human and that he has a soul. There’s more to Senator Obama than voting on this or amending that and while as President he won’t have too much time for football or the Internet, it shows that Obama has something outside of politics to use to decompress from the stresses of being in the public light.

The closest person I can parallel this to is Mark Cuban. Mark Cuban is the single greatest thing to happen to the NBA. Cuban is an owner that is in touch with ever facet of the game. He’s not afraid to be critical of the refereeing, the NBA organization, or other players, even if it costs him money. And it’s not because he’s a billionaire that he does this, it’s because he wants to better the National Basketball Association. Cuban is also in touch with fans. He personally answers almost every email that he gets from Mavericks fans in order to better their experience when attending a game. Cuban is in touch with the outside which is what makes him such a great leader, as Obama will be, the right man for the job.
